John and Rita's 29th Anniversary

August 9th was John and Rita's 29th Wedding Anniversary.  Since it was overcast they took a ride into Manhattan in the Jeep, along with their bicycles for a nice day.  It started with a great breakfast in a place called The Park on 10th Ave and 16th St.  It is a really nice place, with trees and plants growing indoors.  The food was really good and the service was also excellent.  Across the street is the infamous "Highline Park", the converted old railroad tracks they have made into a really nice park.  (we didn't see the porno hotel that has made the park famous lately.)  We walked the length of the park.
Next we got on our bicycles and rode around Manhattan.  Our first stop was the Strand Book store on Broadway and 12th St.  They sell used books for pennies so we brought about 8 books.
Driving around Manhattan on a Sunday is interesting.  The Mayor has converted some streets into serious bike lane streets, especially parts of 8th and 9th avenues.  Anyway we biked up to Central Park and around the whole place.  It was really beautiful, and some of the hills were tiring, especially because we haven't biked like we have in past years.

During the ride home we stopped at Sacco's Pizza on 54th and 9th.  there Pizza is really good, and different.  It's thin sliced and cheesy.
