Rincon House

Early 06 trip

Rita and John started visiting Rincon, Puerto Rico in 2004 to visit their good friends Timmy and Mary Smith.  They fell in love with the quaint little surfer town located on PR's west coast.  It wasn't long before Rita started looking into buying a house there, with her sister Mary and John Ryan.  After many trips, and looking at dozens of houses they found their dream home 100 yards from the ocean in Ensenada, Rincon.  John Sica wanted to name it after the Cassidy family so he came up with the name CASA Dii, since Casa means home, and the adress is D11, or Dii.
The panoramic picture on top of this page is taken from the back deck of Casa Dii.  It is a great place to watch sunsets.  The picture above of John Ryan pouring champagne was taken the day we closed on the house.  there have been many trips to the house, you can use the links on the left to see some great pictures from them.

La Copa Llena at Black Eagle  – Sunset drinks.  Wednesday night is Gringo Bingo, great time.  Food changes all the time, the location has beautiful sunset. located just to the right of the Marina on the beach.

Villa Cofresi – Hotel with great bar, beautiful sunsets, try their Piratas Special, a rum drink in a coconut.  Sit at bar for bar food, or restaurant for dinner.  Pool tables.  Fun at sunset.  http://www.villacofresi.com/

Calypso – Another sunset bar/restaurant.  Big surfing beach to watch while you have lunch.  Great happy hour 5 -7, casual. Duh.  Usually has live music.

Villa Antonio  next to Villa Cofressi.  great bar and good food on beach

Rincon of the Seas - next to villa Antonio.  has a pool that you can swim up to bar.  fancy place, good drinks and pizza

Beaches:

When you go to the beach we have five chairs, many coolers, snorkeling equipment, skim board, beach towels.  Check the closet next to front door (outside).  Spare key is hanging in first floor bathroom inside door frame.
We are fortunate to live right in front of a coral reef.
Great for snorkeling, you see many colorful fish, turtles, lobsters, and coral.  Unfortunately, that means not always a soft sandy bottom.   Usually if you go out a little, its sandy.

Marina and the Public beach have sandy entrances.  You can walk to both but I take the car to bring coolers chairs etc.  I recommend the Marina.  Make left on 413 to Taino Divers sign and make left.  Park as close to beach as you can get.  When you need a break from the sun walk over to Shipwrecks for a drink or lunch.

Steps Beach (sign says Playa Escuela)  make left on 413 about a mile you will see the Playa Escuela sign (drawn on a whale as are all beach signs)  Make a left and park at end of block or on side of road.  This beach has the best snorkeling.  No sandy entrances.  Slippery rock.  It is quiet, little to no waves.  Good views of the island.  Not many people, usually Americans.  Part of the Reserve Marina.

Domes and Maria’s Beach – Big waves, only recommended for surfers.  If you don’t surf but want big waves go to Sandy Beach

Sandy Beachleft on 413, stay on 413 bear right up hill when it splits (left brings you to calypso).  At top of hill where Bakery is, make sharp left, go down hill to bottom, will pass Pools Bar and rentals, on right.   When you pass Tamboo there will be a parking lot next to yellow condo’s on beach.  Park there.  Enter the water in front of Tamboo, no reef there.  Be careful, no lifeguards anywhere in Rincon.  Waves and undertow can be strong.  In Jan. 09 one of our friends got their pocket book stolen from unlocked car in parking lot, lock up!

Internet Access – We do not have wi-fi, however on the back deck you can get reception from the stores at the public beach.  Bring your laptop over there and ask them for the code and they will give it to you.

Garbage gets picked up Tuesday morning.  All garbage must be bagged and place cans out front Monday night.
