SURROUNDED BY CONTROVERSY AS SNOW STORMS, TIME CHANGES AND THE MISSING
CUP MADE FOR A CHAOTIC SUNDAY, WITH RAMIFICATIONS FOR YEARS TO COME
EXPECTED. PRE-TOURNAMENT FAVORITE VJ "DOC" MANIERI, COMING OFF A JANUARY VICTORY AT THE SICA SANDS CASINO, PULLED HIMSELF AND HIS FAMILY OUT OF THE EVENT CITING TIME CHANGES IN THE START TIME AS THE MAIN FACTOR. TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER TOM SICA THEN RULED HE IS LOOKING INTO A POSSIBLE SUSPENSION OF THE THREE TIME CHAMP. MEANWHILE ON THE FELT SURFACE, BRIAN SICA TOOK DOWN A FIELD OF SEVEN FOR THE CUP- BUT THERE WAS NO CUP TO BE FOUND. ROBO, THE PAST CHAMPION AND THE KEEPER OF THE CUP, WAS KNOCKED OUT IN FIFTH PLACE AND SUDDENLY DISSAPPEARED NEVER TO BE SEEN AGAIN. THE TROPHY'S WHERE ABOUTS IS STILL UNKNOWN. AS A RESULT OF THE CONTROVERSY MORE SUSPENSIONS MIGHT BE FORTHCOMING AND THE TOURNAMENT ITSELF MIGHT BE MOVED FOR 2015, TO A LATER START DATE, PERHAPS DURING MARCH MADNESS. COMMISSIONER TOM SICA COULD NOT BE REACHED FOR COMMENT BUT SOURCES SAY HE IS LEAVING THE COUNTRY, PERHAPS TO SMUGGLE THE TROPHEY OVERSEAS WHERE IT WILL NOT BE SUBJECTED TO LOCAL SUBPEONAS. |

| 2009 G.O.A.T. If you didn't know what GOAT stands for before, you should know by now. Greatest of All Time. Doc proved it again winning the Sica Cup for the second time in three years. Speaking of repeat, the host of the event, Tommy Sica was once again the first one out.  Tommy went out with 6-8 suited and couldn't believe he lost. For the first time the Valenti clan was represented with Pete and Dan making the long trek "down" to New York. Dan played well as usual, taking second, with Tom-O third and Bran fourth. Pete also played well in his first Texas Hold Em tourney, placing 5th out of the nine man field. Here are the results:

| Staten Island, NY January 27, 2008 - Teddy Sica held off a hard charging VJ who tried valiantly to defend his 2007 Bragging rights title. |
 Move Over Mary! It didn't take long for The Bragging Rights Trophy to find a new home in New Jersey. Here Teddy rest comfortably after his strong win against a field of ten. Once again the Cup only had a brief stay in Staten Island where it will be a long year before it returns there. Details and more photos to follow. |

Staten Island, January 28th, 2007 - In the first annual Sica Cup, VJ "Doc" Maneri continued his hot streak with a dominating victory over eight other Sica family members. His son Tommy held the chip lead for most of the day after he cashed in on four aces over three full houses, but VJ and young Ted Sica whittled away at Tom's wall of chips until the final showdown. VJ also won the first tournament of the year a week earlier at the Rockaway Sands Casino and Tiki Bar. Many are starting to compare him to Roger Federer and Tiger Woods who also had great weekends. Tommy Sica who hosted and created the event, did a great job of setting up the tournament and providing great food and beer. The trophy that he had made for the event will be cherished for decades to come. However Tommy was the subject of some good natured ribbing all night as he boldly claimed that the trophy would not leave Staten Island. First one of the favorites, Rob Sica was knocked out. Then his brother Tom-o. Big Tom was the last hope to keep the trophy in SI, but as he went all in, Johnny had to ask if he still had the original box, and VJ wanted to know if he had any bubble wrap. Tommy went down third, finishing in seventh and completing his family sweep out of the tournament. Next came Bran, then Johnny and finally Big Ted before the final three mentioned above. |
